SALARYMAN is a Japanese Izayaka serving Japanese cuisine, ramen, and yakitori. It is a restaurant concept by Chef Justin Holt and it is located in Bishop Arts, Oakcliff. Justin reached out to me to assist him with branding & graphics for his new restaurant and I was more than excited to help bring his vision to life.

Justin’s vision was to have a black & white logo that resembled a piece of Binchotan Charcoal with similar details to the Japanese Imperial Seal. Justin then gave me a small bucket of the charcoal itself, he insisted it would help. Then I reached out to my photographer friend (Robert Yu) to take photos of the charcoal. With the pieces I had so far, I came up with some concepts but I felt it would have a better feel if it was Illustrated. I reached out to Dyemond O'Bryan, a very talented illustrator, and an old friend of mine. I knew his aesthetic would align perfectly with our concept, I informed him of the graphic that we are hoping to achieve. We then arrived at the logo presented below. That was the process for the logo.

I assisted with the menu design, and the wall art. Below is a design I created with 3 chicken illustrations that Justin provided. I vectorized them and created a pattern to fit on the wall facing the kitchen. T Shirts and Hats were a part of the work uniform.
